It happens every year in college football.
A team will win a major bowl game in impressive fashion and
the hype builds. The star player, usually the quarterback, is an underclassman
and the Heisman buzz begins. The team makes the cover of all the preseason
magazines, picked to win its conference and run the table for an undefeated
season.
Every year, this one team falters.
No, I’m not talking about Alabama. I’m talking about
Louisville.
It amuses me how so many of the college football media warn
us to not put too much stock into bowl game results, to not get too carried
away by hype and buzz – and then proceed to lose their minds every year over
one team that obviously and clearly cannot back it up.
Bowl games are important. Bowl games are fun. Bowl games can
be program builders.
Bowl games do not impact the following season.
Louisville is the team of the moment thanks solely to its
absolute destruction of Florida in the Sugar Bowl.
It calls to mind the most recent flameout – West Virginia.
To cap off its 2011 season, West Virginia – after a decent, if not great,
regular season – strolled
into the Orange Bowl as the Big East champion to face another decent, if
not great, team in Clemson. The Big East champs drilled the ACC champs to the
tune of 70-33. It was a beatdown of epic proportions and one that sent the
college football world in a tizzy due to Geno Smith returning and the offensive
genius of Dana Holgorsen on full display.
As the Mountaineers prepared for its impending move to the
Big 12 in 2012, the
hype machine went into overdrive. They were going to show up Texas and
Oklahoma. They were going to rip through the Texas Tech’s and Oklahoma State’s
of the world. Geno Smith was going to win the Heisman. They were considered an
outside national title contender. Everything seemed to be falling in place.
For September – aided by a Charmin-soft schedule – it looked
like West Virginia was the real deal.
Except they weren’t. Anyone who had watched West Virginia
during the 2011 regular season knew their deficiencies. They couldn’t play
defense. Geno Smith did not handle pressure well. Holgorsen’s team had a
terrible knack of letting opponents stay in the game. It all came back to bite
them.
The 2012 West Virginia football team was last seen getting
drilled in the snow and muck of Yankee Stadium by a decidedly mediocre
Syracuse team.
If you’re a Louisville fan, you may want to buy your
Pinstripe Bowl tickets now.
Louisville’s
win over Florida seemed to mean more than West Virginia’s because 2012 Florida
was a order of magnitude better than 2011 Clemson. There was just one problem –
much like Alabama getting rocked by Utah in the 2009 Sugar Bowl, Florida didn’t
show up. Their fans didn’t care, signified by the horrific sight of the Sugar
Bowl being played in front of 20,000+ empty seats.
The game meant everything to Louisville. The game meant
nothing to Florida. The quotes, one
in particular, from Florida players in the offseason confirm that.
That hasn’t stopped the college football media from piling
onto the Louisville bandwagon. To make matters even worse for the Cardinals,
they play a supposed “weak” schedule in the new American Athletic Conference.
If you watched Louisville during the regular season, you
know how
close they were to a 7-5 type season. They almost blew a gigantic lead at
home to North Carolina. They beat an 0-12 Southern Miss team by 4 points
(granted, it was during a monsoon). They beat a 3-9 South Florida team by 2
points at home. They beat a 3-9 FIU team by 7. They needed overtime and a
miracle to get by Cincinnati. They were thrashed by Syracuse – the same team
that thrashed West Virginia in the Pinstripe Bowl. They lost to UConn – a terrible,
awful, unable to score football team – at home.
They would not have even made the Sugar Bowl if Rutgers, as
they are wont to do, didn’t choke away a big lead, at home, to clinch the
school’s first major bowl berth.
Based on the regular season, no one in the right mind would
pick Louisville as a Top 10 team. They are a fringe Top 25 team, at best. Alas, one
primetime victory on ESPN over an SEC team has changed the entire conversation.
I hold no ill will toward Louisville, despite the fact they
got the ACC “golden ticket” over UConn. I respect Charlie Strong. I think Teddy
Bridgewater is an amazing quarterback and is undoubtedly the reason Louisville
won 11 games last year. I think the recruiting has picked up. I think the team
will be more than competitive. I think they have a chance, if things go well,
to win the first American Athletic Conference championship.
But they are not a national championship contender. Teddy
Bridgewater is not going to win the Heisman Trophy. The schedule is tougher
than anyone will give them credit for – thus, the inevitable losses will feel
even more shocking.
So how is Louisville losing 4 games? For starters, opening
against Ohio in an ESPN slot on Labor Day Sunday is not the way I would want to
start the season – Ohio is not a team you roll over. While I think they win
that game, I believe they go down to Kentucky in week 3. Playing Kentucky week
1 into the Mark Stoops era would have been perfect, but I like the momentum
Stoops built and playing at home against an archrival with a lofty ranking –
disaster written all over it.
The next 2 losses will come at home in quick succession when
Rutgers, who was frankly a better team in 2012, and UCF, who is way better than
anyone knows, comes to town. The last loss will come in the season-ender when
Cincinnati, likely still playing for a BCS berth, exacts their revenge
on
Louisville.
Let’s not forget the added motivation that teams like USF
and UConn have – they know that Louisville is leaving the conference. As we’ve
seen during past tours of teams playing a lame duck season – Boston College in
2004 is arguably the best example – the other teams like the send a message
on the way out. It would not surprise me if USF or UConn play above their heads
and give Louisville a fifth loss.
The 2013 Louisville football season will be a
disappointment. You shouldn’t feel bad for Louisville. They’ll join the ACC in
2014. They have a Sugar Bowl ring. They won a National Title in basketball. The
women’s team made the Final Four. Life for Louisville athletics is pretty
sweet.
But to expect them to recapture the magic of a charmed 2012
season is too much to ask. If you want to make some easy money, go to Vegas and
bet
the under on Louisville’s win total.
They will be this season’s biggest failure. Don’t say you
weren’t warned.
Follow me on Twitter
Of course a UConn blogger is going to say that. UConn only beat Louisville because Teddy got hurt. Louisville won't lose any games. AAC sucks and you know it.
ReplyDeleteSo the Sugar Bowl doesn't matter for 2013, but the 2012 regular season results do? That's the implication. But going back to the Sugar, it does matter. The extra practice is priceless, especially for a young team. Practice is key to getting better.
ReplyDeleteSugar Bowl is one game. 2012 Regular Season was 12 games. Overall for the entire season, Louisville was a decent football team. They played their best game, BY FAR, in the Sugar Bowl.
DeleteIf they played like that consistently in the regular season, I would not have written this post or believe that they will lose 4 games.
Why would you believe a team dominated by Sophs and Frosh last season, with 18 starters coming back more mature, that went 11-2 last season, and against a tougher schedule last season, would lose twice as many games this season against a weaker schedule?
DeleteSo young team with almost all of its starters coming back and against a weaker schedule loses twice as many games?
Yeah...makes perfect sense.
As a WVU fan I don't like Louisville, but this "author" is a moron.
DeleteAgreed. even more do when reading this after the season is over. Not a very good predictor, is he?
DeleteClassic error here. You have to look at the team in question and the opponents, in terms of who returns/is lost, coaching stability, and home/away games. In nearly every instance, UofL returns more key starters, has the coaching edge (stability), and has more quality depth than the opposition. I do think Ohio, Cincy, and Rutger or UCF will be the toughest games, but no way they lose 4 times. UofL's defense is too experienced and well coached to lose 4 times, even if (GOD FORBID)Teddy gets hurt early in the season.
ReplyDeleteIf you have to point out that you hold no ill will about the ACC, it means that you do. #sourgrapes
ReplyDeleteWhat's funny about this is that even if O'Leary is correct, no one will give a shit about what O'Leary thinks. Year in, year out, no matter how much he works at getting better, no one will care.
ReplyDeleteDo you have any idea how bad Kentucky is going to be?
ReplyDeleteFucking... Moron. Not wasting my breath here
ReplyDeleteDude, you lost ALL credibility with the loss to Kentucky prediction. If you knew ANYTHING about the game, you'd know just how awful UK is going to be. They'll be lucky to win 3 games total....
ReplyDeletethe powers that be would love to go back and change the bowl game. They would have put us up against florida state and northern iowa or whoever it was to play florida.
ReplyDeleteGreat! Another blog that has no research or insight to back up the writer's borish opinions. Here's my opinion. Louisville will be better than they were last season but nobody but Louisville fans will care. They will win their conference and go to a bowl, but will be snubbed by those same national media outlets from any national championship discussion.
ReplyDeleteIf I didn't know any better I'd say some people are still upset about Louisville's invite to the ACC and UConn's lack thereof. The ACC Presidents were unanimous in their choice. Sorry, UConn.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, reasonable people can disagree, but Kentucky winning that game? Not happening. Kentucky is going to be just as bad this year as they were last year- and this is coming from a Kentucky fan. In a year or Stoops is going to have us rolling, but even if Louisville is overrated they aren't losing that game.
ReplyDeleteI think the article brings up very good points. Except there is no possible way Kentucky beats Louisville, especially now that Clemons is out for the year.
ReplyDeleteI wrote this a few days before it posted, so it was before the Clemons injury. If I wrote it again, I'd go with my initial gut instinct and pick Ohio to win on Labor Day weekend.
DeleteLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
ReplyDeleteYou should go look at Florida player and coach comments from BEFORE the game, not after. Before the game several players said they were going to blow Louisville out; the coaches said the team was pumped and practicing great; they all said they didn't slighted but wanted to prove something in the Sugar Bowl. Then go watch the game again, see the late hits, the celebrations they made after said hits, see the helmet targeting hits, the facemasks, etc. The Florida players were in the game and wanted to win - they just got beat and then made excuses.
ReplyDeleteArticles like this fully display the lingering bitterness you all have toward us from not being invited to the ACC.
ReplyDeleteWhat a dumb ass. Obviously doesn't know squat about college football. No surprise coming from a UConn fan. UK is going to beat U of L huh? Hey Einstein! UK hardly has any players! Their roster is a disaster next season. In a couple of years they may have a shot to beat U of L.
ReplyDeleteWhat a dumb ass...
If only I knew the person who wrote this article personally, I would bet him whatever amount of money he wants that Louisville does not lose more than 2 games next season. The only possible way his prediction could come true is if Teddy is lost to a season ending injury.
ReplyDeleteSo Louisville is going to lose four games and go to the Pinstripe Bowl, and they have a good chance at winning the AAC, which has a BCS Bowl tie-in. Try to make sense, dude.
ReplyDeleteI said they have a chance, if they exceed my expectations, of winning the AAC. I don't think they will, thus the blog post.
DeleteUK will lose to Western Kentucky. Anyway, really? 4 games!
ReplyDeleteThis guy must not have looked at our depth at every position. We will never punt the ball. And UL beat West Virginia on the road in 2011 with a bunch of sophomores and Freshmen. LOL
I'm disinterested in this article.
ReplyDeleteClown Shoes
ReplyDeleteThe difference between Louisville and West Virginia, if there is one, is consistency at coach and a more physical style. While Bridgewater has captivated a lot of people this is a running team that didn't have it's bull last year in Dominique Brown. Additionally it was the 2nd youngest team in the country. What I question is the 2nd half decision making by the coaches when Louisville, last year, was clearly not physical enough to impose its will on teams. I think this season that may be easier to do and there won't be 4 losses. It'll be 1, a letdown, and a bowl game.
ReplyDeleteThat's a clown article, bro.
ReplyDeleteSounds to me like someone is stil a little bitter about not being asked to join the ACC. The fact of the matter is that Louisville's facilites and overall program are just far superior, and our fans actually show up to football games. I will certainly be back to your little nothing blog at the end of the season. That is if you are man enough to keep this joke of a post up that long.
ReplyDeleteDisinterested.
ReplyDeleteThis is so stupid and blatant sour grapes over no conference wanting UConn. Give me a break with the "Florida didn't care" angle. The Gators were on the outside looking in at the SEC title game since mid October when they lost to UGA, let alone the National Championship Game. Their Seniors were only Freshmen the last time they were in a BCS bowl, and the rest of their players had never been to one. Their coach had never lead a team to one. How can anyone possibly claim they were disappointed to be there?
ReplyDeleteRutgers was a better team than Louisville in 2012? By what metric? You talk about the importance of bowl games at the beginning- Louisville beat down what many thought was the second or third best team in the nation in their bowl game. Rutgers lost to a 6-6 team in theirs. Let me guess, they just didn't feel like playing that game.
Syracuse was "decidedly mediocre"? An 8-5 season that includes a road win over an SEC team, a late season beat down of an undefeated top 10 team, and getting screwed out of a win over the team that finished the year ranked #16 before capping it off with a decimation of the Eers is far from "decidedly mediocre". They were a very solid team, and were damn good at the end of the year. Oh, that included destroying your Huskies, too.
The only person "deciding" these things are butthurt people like you.
I love to bash people for their opinions anonymously too, keep it up Louisville fans who know how to comment on blog posts! I think it's cool your chubby, neanderthal-esque hands can still use a keyboard! Keep reaching for that hate-filled rainbow, it's A GAME!
ReplyDeleteLooks like sean learned how to use the anonymous setting too! It's ok buddy, you guys still have women's basketball
DeleteWhy would I anonymously comment on my own blog??
DeleteJust a guess but I think he is joking about you being anonymous, although if I embarrassed myself the way you have with this joke of an "analysis" on Louisville's up coming season I think I would seriously consider going anonymous if I were you.
DeleteWVU tanked so that means Louisville will tank. Perfect logic! LMAO! FYI Louisville has a defense. And it will be a very good one next season with 11 players with starting expereince returning. WVU did not have a defense, as demonstrated by the way school ran up scores on them last season.
I am right here and standing by my prediction.
DeleteYou are already wrong, you just are too young/dumb to realize it. They wont lose 4 games COMBINED in basketball and football. This is the WEAKEST conference schedule I have ever seen and thats saying something because there were some bad ones in CUSA. Even giving you the benefit of the doubt Id say a worse case scenario is losing TWO games IF they havent grown up.
DeleteI tell you what Ill do. Ill give you UK and Ohio and a touchdown in both games and we will wager 100 bucks on each game. Loser sends the money to the winners charity of choice. For that matter Ill give you ANY four teams on our schedule and give you a TD in each of those games for 100 bucks each. Lets see if you are REALLY confident or if you are just another gas bag with a keyboard. Deal?
If you bet, you better start praying Bridgewater goes down because thats the ONLY way you win. Even then its not a guarantee for you. I know you guys are all upset about being left behind and I would be too, but stop embarrassing yourselves with tripe like this.
You obviously didn't read the quote from the SEC media day today. Here, I'll help you. UConn Haterade, it's delicious.
ReplyDelete“It was embarrassing,” quarterback Jeff Driskel told reporters at the Southeastern Conference’s media day Tuesday. “They tore us up on offense and defense. Louisville played a great game. It’s not like we weren’t prepared. We were prepared for the game.
“We didn’t take them lightly. They just beat us. That’s the end of the story there.”
The point here is Louisville is light years ahead of Uconn. The writer is jealous. I guess when Uconn played Oklahoma a few years back they decided not to take the Sooners seriously? Uconn better get used to the AAC and Louisville will get used to the ACC.
ReplyDeleteUConn beat Louisville last year.
DeleteThat's because Louisville did not take UConn seriously.
DeleteWhy would they? UConn sucks in football.
If that excuse works for Florida it works for Louisville too.
>QB was injured
Delete>Brags about victory
>Total UConn Move
UConn does suck at football.
DeleteYour QB was injured. Our QB was healthy and still unable to complete forward passes.
Louisville will pound the AAC teams.
ReplyDeleteI don't know where this guy gets this stuff but it is comical to think they lose 4 games. They will lose 1 maybe 2 if they lose a bowl game tops.
Bridgewater is not the only good player they have on their team they are loaded with guys taking preseason accolades for being the best At quite a few positions.
Louisville is a school on te rise. ACC bound. They won bball , finished 2nd in womens , college World series.
There are 26 former high school 4* players on next years Louisville roster.
DeleteThis guy doesn't have a fricking clue. He does not understand that Louisville is VERY talented, but was inconsistant last season because they were playing almost all Sophs and Frosh. Now they are Juniors and Sophs and have a much better understanding of how to play the game and how to properly mentally prepare.
What do you expect from a UConn fan trying to write an intelligent piece about college football? Its like me writing a blog about quantum physics.
Trying to compare this year's UofL team to last year's West Virginia squad is pointless, WVU stunk because they lost their entire defense from 2011 and started like 8 freshmen. Louisville on the other hand returns almost their entire team from 2012, they will be MUCH better than last season.
ReplyDeleteAnd there is NO WAY Kentucky beats UofL, are you serious? Central Connecticut St. could give UK a game, they are terrible in football.
After UofL proves you wrong. Go ahead and write one last article about how wrong you were and quit your day job.
ReplyDeleteThis guy does not know football, LOUISVILLE KNOWS FOOTBALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! & BASKETBALL, MEN'S & WOMEN'S , BASEBALL, SOFTBALL, SOCCER, ROWING, SWIMMING, TRACK................etc Be afraid, very afraid..................
ReplyDeleteUK fans write UConn blogs? Who knew? And most of the words are spelled right!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the love Louisville.
ReplyDeleteI do believe Louisville will lose 4 games, but I wish I'd pick Ohio instead of Kentucky. But the pick still stands.
I sincerely hope, for your sakes, that the Louisville players do not share your overconfidence/disdain for the upcoming schedule. Which is really my point - the teams they play are better than you think.
But thanks for reading, hope you guys come back after I'm right. I know you'll be back if I'm wrong.
You're so bitter and it's hilarious.
DeleteIF???? LMFAO!!!!
DeleteThe second youngest team last season (next to Auburn) in FBS who is returning 19 players with starting experince, one of if not the best QB in the nation, is returning 30 plus players on the two deep roster, currently has 26 former high school 4* star players on the roster, lost only 2 games last season...is going to double the loss total against a weaker schedule next season.
You are a fricking genius man...
OLeary- "Since I exposed how totally clueless I am about college football by picking a UK team with a tragically thin roster next season to beat a loaded Louisville team, and just threw down a bunch of bull crap that my ego hopes will happen as an analysis of the upcoming Louisville season, I wish I had instead picked a decent MAC team in Ohio who squeaked out wins against a bunch of bad teams last season to beat a loaded Louisville squad next season, thereby better supporting my delusional self reality about Louisville football.
DeleteThere. Fixed.
^^^I can feel the butthurt from here. Look @ the bright side, at least Div. II football has a true playoff. So when UConn drops back down to D-2 they have a shot at being true football champions
ReplyDeleteJust so we are clear: football is the one with the brown, egg-shaped ball and helmets and shoulderpads and kicking, ok? Here, this might help you if you want to continue trying to write blog posts like these:
ReplyDeletehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/College_football
What is your basis for the Ohio loss, that they're a mid-major and they shouldn't be taken lightly? They were SO mediocre (9-4) in the MAC last year! By your same argument that UL played close with bad teams, Ohio almost lost to UMass (1-11) and Marshall (5-7) by 3 points each, and Akron (1-11) by 6 points! Not to mention the loss to Miami, OH (4-8)! And who are you to say Kentucky's got "momentum?" Are you in the locker getting a fire lit in your soul by Mark Stoops's eloquent coaching? No? Then stop your bullshit trolling Mark May impression and just give respect where respect is due. Find something else to channel your anger about UConn's ugly new helmets.
ReplyDeleteHow dare you bother this OLeary joker with facts and the same logic that he selectively applies to support his delusional thinking?!?!
DeleteI can take a lot of name calling. But comparing me to Mark May is taking it too far. I'm not trolling. I think Louisville is overrated & their schedule is harder than people think. Thus, that's my logic.
DeleteKentucky has momentum from having a new coach that appears to know what he's doing. We've seen poor teams over-perform for new coaches in Year 1 frequently.
If the game was at Louisville, I would not give Kentucky a chance. But home-field could be a huge for a fanbase that is excited and will be up for a big rivalry game.
It's just a prediction. Feel like you guys need to chill out. Just because I wrote, doesn't mean it's going to happen.
You do realize in the UL UK rivalry the road team generally does well. Off the top of my head since the series was renewed UL has a better record at UK (7-4)than they do playing UK at Louisville (4-4).
DeleteHaHa-congrats on getting some hits on this awful blog.
ReplyDeleteSince you obviously know nothing about football, matchups are very important.
Louisville has the great TB at QB and one of the best WR corps in the nation. U. Ky. has one of the worst DB groups in the nation. Louisville wins that game by 20 points at least.
Louisville returns 17-18 starters. Teams that return that many starters get better there Einstein.
I would've had a really great response to this article...but, it was so poorly conceived and written that I am too disinterested to give it a good effort...
ReplyDeleteAs was this comment. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteI noticed this was titled "Scribblings". My 14 month old is offended that this is heaped into the same category as what he puts on paper.
ReplyDeleteI'm offended that's the best burn you could come up with.
Deleteaw someone's widdle feewings are hurt
DeleteYeah, they were hurt. If you're going to take time to insult me on my blog, be creative, funny and hurtful. That was a poor attempt by Mr. Anonymous up there.
DeleteAnd then you come in with baby talk? Good Lord, I used to have respect for the Louisville fanbase. I know you guys commenting anonymously are the fringe element but damn, you make Bama fans look like Rhodes Scholars.
Louisville will dominate! The years of the Cardinals are upon us! Bow down now, and we won't run you over!
ReplyDeleteAll Your Numbskulls are Belong to Us.
ReplyDeleteWhat you don't understand, Sean, is that it is blogs like this, regardless of how irrelevant you are, which become locker room fodder to motivate. Strong has been doing since he got here. Somebody disrespects us and Strong makes sure the players know about it. We aren't losing 4 games this season. I have my concerns about a few teams this season, but UK isn't one of them and that was before the Clemons injury. If you had any sense you would have recognized that Stoops has, yet, to call a play as a head coach and has done nothing to prove he will have success.
ReplyDeleteI understand you are still mad about Louisville taking the spot you expected in the ACC. Your anger has been wrongly directed since we didn't take the spot, the ACC recognized the better overall program from top to bottom (I will give you Women's basketball).
Good Lord, if Charlie needs my words to motivate his team, then they are in a lot more trouble than I thought.
DeleteI doubt he'd even attribute your name to the article if he bothered to use it all.....just another clueless blogger proclaiming his ignorance to the world. Once you predicted a UK win, with or without the injured player, you lost any credibility you thought you had. I mean, UK may win two games. A little hint. Research first.
DeleteBig talk from someone who can't even put their name next to a comment.
DeleteI'm not the same anonymous. And those of us that are don't care to do whatevere we would need to in order to put our name next to it, and then unless we are famous then we are still just anonymous with some name.
DeleteLets get that straight.
Now...what is so "Big talk" about giving you good advice to research about your subject before putting down a bunch of crap you HOPE will happened and making a complete fool if yourself.
Everybody here is right, if you knew anything about college football you would know UK is in a world of hurt for players next season.
Ohio is a fine team and will be a test for Louisville. However Louisville will not lose 4 games. This is Charlie's 4th year with a stable coaching staff. The difference between UL and WVU is that UL has an excellent defense and it gelled in the Sugar Bowl which was the surprise to Florida. Additionally the UL receiving core is deep and as good as any in the country. Its better now and Florida could do nothing against it. Finally the recruiting has been stellar and this team is far deeper than last years. Anything can happen but barring injury to Bridgewater this a far better team than last years. UK has no chance. It has recruited well but its upperclassmen are thin and weak.
ReplyDeleteFair catch! Fair catch!
ReplyDeleteThank you for making me laugh and not using the word "butthurt" like your brethren.
DeleteSean O'Leary is Jim Calhoun's pen name. He's still butthurt at Pitino for owning him. Rub a little dirt on it Jim, you'll be OK.
ReplyDeleteWhy do so many Louisville fans like using the word "butthurt"? Poor education? I'm going to assume none of you actually went to Louisville. Because if you did, I'd be worried about the value of that degree.
DeleteAnd for the record, Calhoun has more national titles that Pitino. So how does Pitino own him??
Can you say, trolling for hits. No way this writer believes this crap. Sour grapes all over this blog. "I hold no ill will toward Louisville, despite the fact they got the ACC “golden ticket” over UConn." Obviously you do hold ill will towards it or you wouldn't have brought it up.
ReplyDeleteThis may be the most retarded thing I've read on the internet and I've seen some bad stuff.......
ReplyDeleteSean, you should consider never writing again. I mean anything. Not a blog post, to a pen pal, poem, your name in the sand on the beach, individual letters on a piece of paper when you're trying to teach your 3 year old son the alphabet (or daughter), a grocery list, song about how UCONN sports will inevitably fade into obscurity (minus the women's team...those girls can play), etc. Literally, your hand should never touch a pen or keyboard ever again.
ReplyDeleteUhoh, I'm writing again!
DeleteWell, step 1 is recognizing the problem. Step 2 is fixing it.
DeleteFirst off, you call this place a blog? Wow, that's pretty pathetic, but I am glad people are linking it on message boards for a good laugh. Second, you clearly just outed yourself and your lack of knowledge anything football related what so ever. Your "points" as to why you believe Louisville is going to lose 4 games are anything less than grasping at straws. I hate to burst your bubble but Louisville is on a mission this year. For the first time in 5 or 6 years the Cards are being discussed as national title contenders but are completely aware that it will take a flawless effort on their part to even be in the discussion. So if you think this team is going to take anyone lightly this year, and ruin their chances at a potential NC, then you have a surprise coming. Charlie Strong will have his guys ready for every game.
ReplyDeleteI will say that I agree with your point that the schedule is down played a bit, but I can assure you it is not being down played by the players and coaches. I honestly don't believe there is a team even close to the level of talent and experience standing in UL's way. And like I stated earlier, the team could give 2 shits who is in front of them, they will look at every team as an obstacle to their NC game run. So I not only believe UL will go undefeated, but they will do it pretty handily.
Finally, NC contenders aside, I am not sure who made you a college football analyst, but to say that UL is a "fringe top 25" team this year is laughable. Every single college football analyst(you know the ones that do it for a living)have UL at worst a top 12 team.
After reading this article, it is blatantly obvious what your agenda is here... The fact that you have to make the statement "I hold no ill will toward Louisville, despite the fact they got the ACC “golden ticket” over UConn" clearly points out that your jealousy and envy of where the UL program is and where it is heading is so telling, it is disgusting. But good luck anyways to your huskies this year and I certainly appreciate the laugh on this Friday morning.
"Every single college football analyst(you know the ones that do it for a living)have UL at worst a top 12 team."
DeleteSo? My prediction means the same as theirs before any games are played. No one picked Notre Dame to go 12-0, are they all stupid? The analysts didn't even pick Alabama to win the SEC last year, are they all stupid too?
You Louisville fans are so outraged it's insane. It's just my prediction. Go away and annoy someone else.
Louisville fans are the only people reading this stupid blog. Why would you want to push your only audience out the door.
DeleteYou wrote about us dipshit and now you're mad we're here. lol
DeleteWhy don't you blog about UConn football... Oh yeah cause they suck.
The best part of this Author's work is the background template he chose from Blogspot.com. He is obvious salty from UConn being left out of conference realignment. He was correct when he said that ULs best game was the Sugar Bowl, with a team of mostly underclassmen you would expect them to get better game by game.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry Mr Leary. the lady Huskies will be sproting new unis this year and you will have something postive to write about soon.
Thanks. I like my background template too.
DeleteO'Leary? It's obvious what's going on here. Mr O'Leary is hitting the sauce again or still. LOL!
ReplyDeleteit weakens your defenses and allows your jealousy of UL football to creep through.
Two problems with your story:
ReplyDelete1.) You don't give Louisville enough credit.
2.) Picking UK to upset Louisville. Is that based on the fact that they have no real proven skill position players returning outside of Smith? Their awful offensive line? Or their putrid defense. We could always call into question their 2-10 record, or the fact that they have had an incredible number of players leave in the off-season.
Stop making sense.
DeleteThought UofL would go down to UK? Hang in there Sean. You're not the first blogger to look bad with stupid predictions and you won't be the last either. The best part is nobody will remember your blog in a few weeks from now as we all move on down to bigger and better things, to include equally wrong predictions regarding UofL by better qualified people than you. Hell, if I hadn't bookmarked this page, I would have forgot about it long ago like I normally forget insignificant drivel I come across. Cheers and thanks for the laughs.
ReplyDeleteLouisville football has way too easy of a schedule this year, and should not lose a regular season game. But once they join the ACC in 2014, they and their overrated coach will be exposed for the being an overhyped, fraud of a program.
ReplyDeleteHow does your crystal ball look now? Your football expertise sure showed through didn't it?
ReplyDeleteI analyzed them all here: http://stholeary.blogspot.com/2013/12/how-did-my-bold-college-football.html
DeleteThis still warms my heart that you missed with such wreckless abandon...and you are still a second rate football program.
